Meet the amazing members working behind-the-scenes for The MIF

Board of Directors

Thomas Quiter

President
Born in 1983 with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Thomas always advocates for himself and others with disabilities, stating “I do nothing if it doesn’t benefit others.”

Donna Quiter

Trustee
Self-described daughter, wife, & mother of disabled persons, Donna’s experience with financial and disability management stems from her work at an insurance company, disabled veteran housing, and a university purchasing clerk.

Dr. Daniel Chaves

Board Member
Dr. Daniel Chaves is a physician, sports physiology specialist, & healthcare innovator with 9+ years of experience in clinical care, surgery, public health, & medical education. As a Mayo Clinic–ASU MedTech Research Scholar and Mobility Independence Foundation board member, he drives the translation of frontier technologies—biosensors, AI-powered diagnostics, and battery-assisted mobility devices—into scalable solutions that restore independence, mobility, and dignity.

Matthew Lacey

Vice President
With a background in manufacturing and industrial maintenance, working on both electrical and mechanical machinery, Matthew believes a community should come together and help each other and those who cannot help themselves.

Tom Pinkhasov

Operations Director
A dynamic professional based in New York City, Tom brings over 6 years of experience.
He owns and operates a firm providing business, financial, and consultancy services to non-profits and small businesses nationwide.

Emily S. Goldberg

Western States Outreach Director
Certified paralegal and communications professional in Phoenix, Arizona, Emily’s work includes prison healthcare and elder abuse cases, medical errors, and other catastrophic injuries. Re-elected twice as Vice President of the Arizona Paralegal Association, she designs and delivers continuing legal education programming for the state’s legal professionals.

Jonathan Howe

Secretary
A public defender and part-time cat rescuer, Jonathan joined The MIF after years of seeing friends, neighbors, and clients with mobility issues struggling to get around New York City.

Andy Weyant

Assistant Secretary
A financial planning business owner and current president of the Board of Directors of Independent Living Inc., Andy’s remains active in his community despite a permanent spinal injury.

Advisors

Sam Robb

IT Advisor
Former US Navy officer and Carnegie Mellon University graduate, Sam works as an embedded systems developer. He volunteers at his church, works on professional writing, and advises for various political organizations like the Try-Life Center, People for Liberty, and Home for Liberty.

James Beck

Electronics Engineer
Starting off refurbishing and repairing control systems, installation, repair, and maintenance of entertainment robotic shows, and a component level repair bench technician, James runs an electronics R&D company.

Chase Kahn

Lead Outreach Director
A manual wheelchair user and industrial designer, Chase believes in designing with the user’s needs first; moreover, they are a co-founder of Chase Mobility, a company developing mobility technology.

Susan Threadgill

Project Manager
Susan is based in New Mexico and has experience with leading product and data-driven initiatives across ecommerce, consumer apps, and mission-driven organizations. Currently pursuing an MS in Program Evaluation and Data Analytics at ASU to strengthen public impact projects.

Daniel Behrman

IT Advisor
Having worked in the Los Angeles entertainment industry; international tech startups; and Fortune 500 companies, Daniel believes, “any person should be free to live their life however they prefer, so long as they don’t hurt others.”

Louis Anthony Rossmann

Right to Repair Advocate
Louis is an independent electronics technician, right‑to‑repair advocate, and founder of the Rossmann Repair Group and Repair Preservation Group. Renowned for leveraging his YouTube channel to demystify logic‑board repair and empower consumers, he brings deep expertise in open hardware and community‑driven innovation. He supports MIF’s open hardware initiatives because open hardware automatically grants the right to repair.

Megan Hecklinger

Web & Graphic Designer
Motion/graphic designer, photographer, & illustrator, Megan is on the HLSR School Art Auction & Tours Committees, raising scholarships & promoting agricultural education opportunities to Houston’s future.

Ken Mattes

Operations Specialist
With a unique interest in transportation, Ken’s great logistical skills helps him focus on safe, efficient, & adaptable travel. For two decades, he’s worked as a same-day delivery driver, while also volunteering in local politics and emergency management. Son of a disabled mother, he passionately works to solve problems, especially those obstructing mobility.

Casey Crowe

IT Advisor
An IT Systems Engineer in South Carolina, has taken Casey through serving in the US Air Force, SC State government, and now in the private sector. He’s served organizations dedicated to voluntarism, and currently serves as chairman of (what state) state and county political party.

Kyle Davis

Electronics Engineer
Kyle has done a bunch of different things across the traditional, physical engineering spaces as an aerospace engineer and across the newer spaces as a computer scientist and decentralization geek.

Devin Hamilton

Mechanical Engineer
President and lead engineer at RapAdapt, Devin’s cerebral palsy gives The MIF a unique perspective to problem-solving solutions for the disabled. After graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology, he obtained two US patents on wheelchair technology that the MIF uses now.
